Act 4, Scene 2, line 2.

Note to Twelfth Night, 4.2.2, "Sir Topas"

"Sir Thopas" is the name of a ridiculous knight in a farcical tale told by "Geoffrey" in Chaucer's Canterbury Tales, so perhaps Shakespeare thought that "Sir Topas" would be an appropriate title for a ridiculous priest. Also, "Sir" could be used as a term of respect for a priest, as well as for a knight.
