What is the appropriate punishment in the following scenarios which result in a death?
You go to a party, drink too much, don't feel too good and want to leave. Your designated driver wants to stay and has an offer of another ride. You go, driving buzzed, and you try to be really careful, but someone you don't see until too late tries to cross the street in the middle of the block and you run that person over.
You are baking cupcakes for a gathering which is going to happen in about half an hour. You pull the cupcakes out of the oven to check them and spill most of batter on the floor. You get in the car to drive to the store for more cupcake mix. Just as you are about at the store, your cell phone rings. You don't answer, but check to see who it is, and the next thing you know, you've T-boned another car and killed the driver.
You are driving the freeway towards a flashing "merge left." As you are trying to pull left, another car passes on your right and cuts into line in front of you. Later, through the bottleneck, you return the favor and cut in front of the car that cut in front of you, only you cut it too close, the other car bumps, so that your car spins around and slams into an overpass support. Your passenger dies in the crash.
