Heads on Pikes: London Bridge, about 1650.

Heads on pikes are the lollipop-looking things sticking up from the battlements of the gate of London Bridge. Most of the people who saw Macbeth, as they went to and from Shakespeare's theatre, would have seen and smelled such heads on pikes.
