1. the impression fill: efface the brand (by filling in the depression made by the brand).

4. o'er-green: to cover so as to conceal a defect.   my bad: my evil.   allow: approve.

7-8. None else to me, nor I to none alive, / That my steel'd sense or changes right or wrong: For me there are no others alive who can change my steeled sensibilities—whether for better or for worse.

9. abysm: abyss.

10. adder's sense: i.e., deaf ears. —Psalms 58:4 mentions "the deaf adder that stoppeh her ear."

11. critic: fault-finder.

12. with my neglect I do dispense: I excuse my indifference (to the opinions of others).

13. strongly: firmly.   bred: inborn; natural.
