4. To witness duty, not to show my wit: i.e., to show that I am performing my duty, not to show off my poetic ability.

7. good conceit: good conception, favorable opinion.

8. all naked, will bestow it: —I believe that both phrases refer back to "Duty" (line 5). If this is true, then the idea is that the speaker's loving duty to his "lord of love" will appear naked and despicable, because it is expressed only by the poor wit of the poem. bestow: provide hospitality for, lodge.

11. tottered: tattered.

12. show me: prove that I am. respect: consideration.

14. prove: test, try.
