Sly Awakes

Shakespeare Experience: On Sly's small beer ...
"I'll pheeze you, in faith," Sly yells when the Hostess throws him out of her establishment. A little later, a Lord sees him in his drunken sleep and decides it would be a good joke to trick him into believing that he is really a lord who has only dreamed of being a beggar.

"For God's sake, a pot of small ale," calls Sly at the beginning of the scene in which he is persuaded that he is not a beggar, but a great, rich lord with a beautiful wife.

At the end of the first scene of the play, after the actors have left the stage, a servant says to Sly, "My lord, you nod; you do not mind the play." Sly replies that it is a very good play, but wishes that it were over. This is the last we see of him.
